Rose’s scheme fails spectacularly in Emmerdale, leaving her in grave danger. Ruby Fox Milligan is determined to finish what her husband Caleb started by bringing down Kim Tate. While Caleb had his son Nikki infiltrate Home Farm as a nanny, Ruby has enlisted Rose Jackson. Rose, Will Taylor’s ex and mother of his daughter Dawn, owes Ruby a significant debt after being bailed out financially. Ruby constantly reminds Rose of this debt, pressuring her to stay involved.
Rose’s situation is complicated by her growing closeness to Dawn and her grandchildren, especially since Dawn’s son, Evan, is battling leukemia. Rose has also developed affection for her other grandchildren, Clemy and Lucas. On Monday, July 15, Ruby pressures Rose again for results from her time at Home Farm. Rose sees an opportunity after overhearing a conversation between Will and Kim. Kim had covered for Billy getting drunk and Nate helping him home, which possibly caused Evan’s illness. Kim had told Dawn she must have brought in the germs from a business meeting, and Will agreed to keep the truth from Dawn.
Later, Rose thanks Kim for covering for Billy, expressing admiration for Kim’s actions and admitting she wished she had been more like Kim in the past. She also claims she’s quitting drinking, impressing Will but leaving Kim skeptical. After a call with Ruby, Rose finds herself alone with Will and pretends to be emotional, positioning herself as part of the family unit. However, when she leans in to kiss him, Will reacts angrily, questioning her actions and walking out.
Trying to mitigate the damage, Rose later finds Will still angry. He insists he loves his wife and nothing will change that. Rose tries to convince him not to tell Kim, suggesting it could make her insecure and upset Dawn. However, insecurity is not a trait associated with Kim Tate—vengefulness is. With her latest ploy revealed, Rose should be very worried about what Kim will do next.
