A familiar face is heading back to Emmerdale next week according to new spoilers for the ITV soap.

After months offscreen and a rather abrupt exit that left fans concerned earlier this year, Arthur Thomas will return to the village. He’s got harsh words for one resident too, with him not prepared to let them get away with recent behaviour.

Actor Alfie Clarke recently confirmed a return to the show after disappearing, with it thought he’d left the soap to work on his school exams. Now he’s back onscreen from next week, with Arthur returning from Australia and rejoining his mother Laurel.

Spoilers reveal that as his sister Gabby Thomas remains loved up with new flame Vinny Dingle, Arthur interrupts them at the house. He announces he is back, and he wastes no time in confronting stepfather Jai Sharma who has just split from Laurel.

Jai and Laurel are in a bitter divorce plot after she ended things after his lies and treatment towards other villagers were exposed. Jai has since tuned on Laurel, trying to make sure she gets nothing from him.

When Arthur returns, he gives Jai a piece of his mind about the way he’s treating his mum. He reveals the impact that the divorce procedure stress is having on Laurel following her recent heart attack.

Jai’s unsettled to see Arthur means business, but will he drop his vendetta? Might we see a darker Arthur after his return, leading to him taking on Jai?

Fans of the ITV soap had been left puzzled earlier in the year when Arthur disappeared from the Dales. Laurel later confirmed that Arthur was in Australia, with fans confused how he got there and why he was out there. She said: “Arthur’s in Australia and there’s more than enough room in the inn.

“Gabby, you and Thomas are family – you’re always welcome. And, to be honest, I could do with another woman in the house.” Arthur’s grandfather Doug Potts left Emmerdale for a new life in Australia back in 2020, meaning that he was possibly visiting him.

Actor Alfie confirmed he had been back filming recently in a social media post. He said: “Good to be back @emmerdale #emmerdale #backtowork #soapopera #village.”
