Coronation Street may have teased Cassie Plummer’s real sinister plan for Ken Barlow, after a telling

scene.

A phone call made by Ken was overheard by his new carer, after months of fans speculating over Cassie’s

intentions. She agreed to be Ken’s carer months ago, and soon the pair were getting along and he was keen for her to stay in the role.

Cassie had been accused, both on and offscreen, of being after Ken’s money or his possessions, but she soon seemed to rule this out. But the latest episode may have teased she does have an ulterior motive after all.

Ken was heard calling someone called Nigel in the hope of booking a meeting to get some financial advice. Ken revealed he had come into some money after a big win, and he was wanting guidance on how best to store the money.

He’d said he’d won £50,000 after his numbers came up in a premium bond draw. Cassie walked into the house and heard the whole chat as she learned Ken was now £50k richer.

She stayed by the door pretending she had not entered the house, before slamming the door to make it seem she’d missed the call. She then asked him if he had any news about anything and he said nothing, not wanting her to know.

Cassie then walked into the kitchen and was seen smirking, clearly eyeing up the money. Then again, while Ken had been speaking before Cassie was shown onscreen and before she went into the house, he too pulled a face after Cassie left the room.

It wasn’t clear if he was testing Cassie or maybe trying to trick her into staying on as his carer, knowing the money might encourage this. Cassie had had a row with Steve McDonald previously, so was Ken simply tricking her?

It seems not given he had called Nigel without knowing Cassie was there, and the look on her face regardless would certainly suggest she was eyeing up the money. So Ken may need to watch his back if Cassie is planning on getting her hands on it!
