Emmerdale’s Belle King risks exposure over her abortion secret, hiding it from her abusive husband, Tom. Earlier this week, Belle secretly went to a women’s health clinic for a medical abortion, fearing the idea of having a baby with Tom.

In Friday’s episode on ITV1 and streaming on ITV X, Belle tricked Tom into revealing how long he’d be away by pretending to follow his orders to stay home. After Tom left for work, Cain unexpectedly visited to congratulate Belle on the pregnancy and confided about his troubles with Moira before leaving.

Belle then took the car to the clinic for her next abortion pill. Aware that Tom was tracking her, she called him, pretending to be at the hospital, and asked him to meet her at home. When Tom returned, Belle tearfully lied that she had been told at the hospital that she lost the baby. Furious that she hadn’t called him, she insisted there was no signal until she reached the car park.

Belle broke down, pleading that she was focused on getting to the hospital, praying the situation was fixable. Tom, enraged, accused the hospital of negligence for not contacting him, but Belle begged him not to make a fuss, saying there was nothing they could do.

Later, Tom suggested they try for another baby once Belle healed. She tried to dissuade him, saying it was too soon to consider another pregnancy. Convinced she would change her mind, Tom took Piper for a walk but instead snuck into the car to confirm her story. Using his tracker, he saw she had driven to a clinic. Initially satisfied, the camera then revealed a packet of medical abortion pills on the car’s passenger side floor, suggesting Belle’s secret might soon be exposed.
