Emmerdale’s Matty in danger as transphobic ceIImate turns vioIent
Emmerdale’s Matty Barton is hopeful for his release from prison and shares his joy with his wife, Amy, during her visit. However, his happiness is short-lived when an unwelcome visitor stirs fear. Matty, who initially feels optimistic about his chances of going home thanks to a new solicitor and the acceptance of his cellmate Lay, finds his hopes dashed.
During Amy’s visit, Matty is in high spirits and eager to share his good news. Amy is relieved to see her husband more positive, but as their visit ends, Amy is approached by Robbo, whom she mistakenly trusts. Robbo’s feigned sympathy leads Amy to reveal sensitive information about Matty, unaware of the danger she has now put him in.
When Matty returns to his cramped cell and Lay leaves to see the solicitor, Robbo arrives, and Matty’s fear mounts. Robbo, a menacing transphobe, reveals he has spoken to Amy and knows the truth, leaving Matty trapped and terrified. Meanwhile, Amy, unaware of the impending danger, returns home to share Matty’s positive outlook with Moira.
As the week progresses, things worsen for Matty, while Amy and Moira grow concerned about not hearing from him. Matty’s imprisonment stems from a tragic incident where he accidentally stabbed Samson during a violent altercation with Josh. Samson misled his family and the authorities by claiming Matty intentionally stabbed him.
In the upcoming episodes, Samson plans to leave the village, and Matty’s safety hangs in the balance. Moira is furious upon learning about Josh and Samson’s early European trip plans and vows to stop them. Meanwhile, Lydia begins to suspect Samson is hiding something after witnessing Josh threatening him and pressuring him to continue lying to the police. Lydia faces a dilemma—should she help Moira expose the truth?
Fans will have to tune in to see if Matty escapes the clutches of his violent cellmate and if the truth about Samson’s deception will come to light.
