Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for a statement regarding the unexpected cancellation. While Emmerdale was impacted, Coronation Street managed to air at 9:00 p.m. after the BBC’s Euro coverage. Frustrated fans took to social media to express their annoyance with the scheduling changes. One fan tweeted, “Did I wait all night for Emmerdale to be canceled?” Another added, “Sick of football messing up the soaps. #Emmerdale taken off last minute and not even on ITVX.”

The disruption is part of a broader trend as broadcasters adjust their schedules to accommodate Euro 2024 coverage. Emmerdale, along with other soaps, will continue to face scheduling changes throughout the tournament. Some episodes will air earlier at 7:00 p.m. on ITV, including on Friday, July 12th. The soap will not air on Wednesday, July 10th, due to the second Euro semi-final but is expected to return to its usual 7:30 p.m. slot on Monday, July 8th, Tuesday, July 9th, and Thursday, July 11th.
