IT’S OVER! BREAKING NEWS: Emmerdale Star Hints at Taking a Break from Soap Opera | Emmerdale Spoilers 15th – 19th July 2024
Emma Atkins, known for her long-running role as Charity Dingle on Emmerdale, has hinted at the possibility of taking a year-long break from the soap. Having portrayed Charity on and off for nearly 25 years, Emma expressed in a recent interview her desire to explore other opportunities outside the show.
“I might take a year out at some point in the future to do some traveling and try different jobs,” she told My Weekly. “But for now, I’m here to stay. As long as they’re writing brilliant stuff for my character and I love playing her, I don’t feel the need to go off and do anything else.”
Emma also reminisced about a previous break she took from the show in the 2000s, describing it as a valuable period for her growth as an actor. “When I got invited back into Emmerdale, I thought I could make this character even better,” she added.

In other news, Emma recently commented on the tumultuous relationship between Emmerdale characters Cain and Moira Dingle. Despite their rough patch, she believes the couple will pull through. “I think it’s brilliant because they’re so different that they work as a yin-yang,” she told Digital Spy and other media outlets. “Whereas with Charity and Cain, there would probably be too much friction because they’re from a similar stock. Moira has that sort of morally upstanding nature.”
Emma also expressed her admiration for her co-stars Jeff Hordley and Natalie J. Robb, who play Cain and Moira. “I’d love to work with Jeff more, and Natalie is amazing. In fact, my mom said to me the other day, ‘Isn’t she a brilliant actress?'”
Emma’s potential break from Emmerdale could lead to significant changes for her character, Charity Dingle, and the show’s dynamic. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how the storyline unfolds and what new adventures await Emma in her future endeavors.
