In a dramatic turn of events, Emmerdale’s Kim Tate makes a significant sacrifice at the hospital, paying a heavy price. Home Farm is currently a germ-free zone since Dawn and Billy Fletcher brought their sick baby, Evan, back home. Evan, diagnosed with leukemia, had been in the hospital undergoing grueling chemotherapy. With treatment going well, he has been allowed home, but due to his depleted immune system, the family must take extreme precautions to prevent any infections.
Visitors to the house are kept to a minimum. Gabby and Thomas have moved out, and Lucas and Clemy are being homeschooled to avoid bringing any illnesses from school. The situation is challenging for everyone, especially Dawn, who is deeply worried about Evan’s health. In the upcoming episodes, Dawn becomes upset when Evan spits up his medication while Billy is looking after him, leading her to question his capability to care for their son.
Feeling despondent, Billy accepts an invitation from Nate to go out for a few beers, but he ends up drinking too much. Nate has to bring him home, and shortly after, Evan develops a cough. Dawn, alarmed, rushes him back to the hospital. Billy feels guilty for allowing Nate into the house, as Nate hadn’t been adhering to the family’s strict social distancing measures.
Kim Tate steps in to take the blame, knowing Dawn would be furious if she knew the truth about Billy’s recklessness. Dawn’s anger is intense, but Kim has more to worry about than just Dawn’s wrath. Dawn’s mother, Rose Jackson, is a hidden threat within the family. While Kim currently sees Rose as merely an annoyance, viewers are aware that Rose is secretly plotting with Ruby Fox Milligan to bring Kim down.
Rose’s plan progresses when Dawn forgets Clemy’s birthday, and Rose quickly steps in to organize a spontaneous party, saving the day. With Clemy happy and Will and Dawn grateful to Rose, Kim is excluded from the family celebration due to the incident with Evan’s health. It appears Rose’s scheme to push Kim out of her own family is succeeding.
