Emmerdale has confirmed that Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas are splitting up. Their relationship unravels following arguments over Amit’s departure and Jai’s betrayal of his half-brother, Suni. In an episode already available on iPlayer, Laurel loses patience with Jai’s refusal to be honest with his sibling about why Amit left. Their argument escalates, and Jai crosses a line by cruelly insulting Laurel’s late husband, Ashley. Disgusted by Jai’s words, Laurel sends him away but suddenly collapses at the church, leading to an ambulance taking her away with concerns of a heart attack.

As Laurel recovers in the hospital, she decides to separate from Jai. Despite this, Jai seems unrealistically optimistic about their chances of staying together, which worries Laurel. Meanwhile, Laurel’s stepdaughter, Gabby, is unhappy with Jai’s decision to continue living at Mulberry Cottage, arguing that he is doing it for the kids’ benefit and wants to keep things light for them. However, Laurel and Gabby struggle to accept this arrangement.

Emmerdale fans saw Jai and Laurel tie the knot in July last year, having been together on and off since 2019. Jai’s split from Laurel isn’t the only major change coming up for him. Suni will be leaving The Dales in upcoming episodes. It was revealed last month that Bhasker Patel (Rishi Sharma) and Avin Shah (Suni Sharma) have both already filmed their final scenes.
